Ottawa bus strike

Well there is a bus strike going on here in Ottawa. Its a frustrating situation for everyone. Its during moments like this that even those that even those who don't rely on public transit start to notice what a positive difference it makes when it exists. Unfortunately that tiny silver lining offers little comfort to those of us who do rely on it. Most infuriating is that both sides are acting in completely arrogant and stubbornly with little if any sympathy for all those affected. Worst of all the weather has really started to get really bad. Transportation is fundamental to a functional city. With extreme weather like we get in the Nations capital it will always be challenging. I hope that we as a society can overcome our individual and collective differences to resolve these. Even before the bus strike a long overdue expansion of our public transport system has been stalled by petty squabbles. I won't (at least not at this time) try to assign any blame - though I have strong opinions. I will just in the spirit of the season hope a good resolution comes quickly for the good of all.
