The Net at the GCTC

The Net by Marcel-Romain Theriault runs by Apr 14 to May 3 (2009). It is a tragedy set in fishing village in New Brunswick. Like all Great Canadian Theatre Company productions, it has a small cast - this one small even by GCTC standards only 3 actors. The length is also relatively short - a one and a half stretch with no intermission. Within this play many issues are explored like loyalty, poverty, politics, economics, corruption, traditions, violence. Inspired by real incedents in New Brunswick a few years ago, tt is a gritty ride. Having said that, the well chosen dialogue does contain some humourous moments as well. It was a play that I would like to see again.
